Most of us now see the Batman as a dark, grim character whose adventures often revolve around very mature themes. But from the middle of the 1950's to the end of the 1960's, Batman was very different to that image. Due to government control over comic book content, all the comic book publishers had to make their content family-friendly, and avoid mature theme, violence, and gore. This led to the famous 1960's Batman TV series featuring Adam West, which was inspired by the comics of the time. Batman then was fighting crime in a very mocking way. Villains were evil, their schemes often involved robberies, and Batman would always defeat them before reminding children to brush their teeth. For many kids who grew up with this Batman, there are still remains of this 1960's nostalgia.
