The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 1984 were very different than their 1987 equivalent of the famous TV animated series. The comic book turtles all wear a red headband and are hardly differentiable. They're also a lot more violent, the comic using quite a lot of gore element during its action sequences. To make it more kid-friendly, this whole aspect was removed to make the turtles the skateboarders and pizza lovers which we all know.
