The Hot Rod trend started in the late 1930s in Southern California. Nicknamed "Speedsters", hot rods then were mostly Ford cars, as they were sturdy and affordable. During the Prohibition, those hot rods were modified to escape the police. After World War 2, the trend grew in popularity throughout the country as many returning soldiers had been trained as mechanics. Today, these old modified vehicles have gained a new attention from collectors all other the world.
